FYI 12/3/2015

All,

I Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break. Since my last FYI much has happened. The marching band has been auditioned and divided into 3 balanced ability based bands for concert season. Because of a lack of rehearsal space the band has been split into 2 bands for the Winter Concert. Schedules will change and the bands will split into 3 bands after winter break.

The most exciting news I have to share with everyone is the band has been invited to perform in the 2016 Citrus Bowl Parade. Mrs. England and I have been working with travel agents, hotels, and bus companies since confirming the invitation from the Citrus Bowl committee. We will have enough information to schedule a parent meeting soon and start a scheduled payment plan to decrease any last minute burden on family finances.

Below are some important dates and information regarding December and beyond.

In preparation for our winter concert I have a few after school rehearsals scheduled so we can get the full bands together. Below are the dates and times. Your student will be able to decode the rehearsal info for you!

12/9 - 2:00 - 3:00 Concert Band & Symphonic Band rehearsal in band room
3:30 - 4:30 Wind Ensemble in band room

12/14 - 2:00 - 3:00 Wind Ensemble in band room
3:30 - 4:30 Concert Band & Symphonic Band rehearsal in band room

Breakfast With Santa - is 12/12 in the PHSC Commons. It is a fundraiser for the entire performing arts department and will feature the PHSC Jazz Band, PHSC Chorale and PHSC String Ensemble. Special Guests include Mr. and Mrs. Clause and Anna and Elsa from the movie frozen. For more details and registration visit, http://www.pickeringtoncentralmarchingtigers.com.

To help make make Breakfast with Santa a success students have been asked to donate items or a few dollars to make a raffle basket. Each section of the marching band has been asked to create a theme and construct a basket to raffle based on that theme. Leadership has been tasked with organizing this. Please make sure your student is helping in this effort!

Winter Concert - is 12/15 in the PAC. Report time for students is 6pm and the concert starts at 7pm. The concert will include pieces featuring the woodwind choir, brass choir as well as a few full band selections. Our Special guests for the evening will be the Diley Middle School 6th grade band.

Finally, I wish you all the best as we race to the holiday break and end of the semester. I'll see you at the finish line!

Respectfully,

Mr. Stowe
